Students Take Oath to Prevent Elder Abuse in Salem on World Elder Abuse Awareness Day

Salem, June 16 (World Elder Abuse Awareness Day is on June 15, and it was celebrated on June 16):

To mark World Elder Abuse Awareness Day, the Dr. V.S. Natarajan Geriatric Foundation organized a meaningful event in Salem, where students from various educational institutions to take a public oath against elder abuse.

The event aimed to raise awareness about the often-overlooked issue of elder abuse and to encourage young people to take an active role in safeguarding the dignity and rights of senior citizens. Students pledged to respect and support elders, report incidents of abuse, and spread awareness in their families and communities.

 

Speaking at the gathering, Founder and Chairman, Padma Shri Dr. V. S. Natarajan emphasized the importance of intergenerational solidarity and the role of youth in creating an age-friendly society.

The initiative reflects the Foundation’s ongoing commitment to promoting healthy ageing and protecting the well-being of older adults.
